James R. Starck

James R. Starck
October 5, 1945
March 10, 2019

OTISFIELD - James R. Starck, 73, passed away March 10, 2019, at his home following a long battle with cancer.
Jim was born October 5, 1945 in Boston, MA., to Rene and Virginia (Curry) Starck of Dorchester, MA. He graduated from Boston Trade School in 1965, and went on to work as a welder in the Quincy Shipyard.  He also served in the Army Reserve as an armourer with a medical unit, being honorably discharged in 1971, with the rank of E7.
Since becoming a resident of Otisfield in 1981, he continued his career as a welder working for contractors with work in many of the mills of Maine, including S.D.Warren.
Jim had great pride in his gun collection, and was always happy to share his knowledge of gunsmithing. From the age of 13, he would fondly remember being taught gunsmithing from his Uncle Alfred Starck.  Hunting trips to Patten, Maine, with his father Rene was also a wonderful memory.
Jim is survived by his wife Marilyn (Corbett), son Michael, daughter Cathleen and her  husband Andrew Melrose of Westbrook; his siblings, Cheryl Baker and Janice Bowes of Massachusetts; Robert Starck of Otisfield; Kenneth Starck of Colorado; Steven Starck of South Carolina; Richard Starck of Massachusetts; and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased are his parents Rene and Virginia Starck.
A funeral  service will be held at 11:00 am, on Saturday, March 30, at Hall Funeral Home, 165 Quaker Ridge Rd., Casco, with Minister Steven Jaynes officiating.  A reception will follow at the American Legion Hall #155 of Naples. A simple and private interment to be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations in memory of James R. Starck to the Disabled American Veterans, Dept. of Maine, P.O. Box 3415, Augusta, Me. 04330.
