    GRAY - Robert Deane Greenleaf Sr., 82, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones at home on August 10, 2019.
    Robert grew up on the The Nutting Farm in Otisfield. He graduated from Norway High School in 1954. Robert graduated from the University of Maine in 1961 with his Bachelor’s degree in Forestry and went on to get his Master’s in Recreation. He worked for the Department of Parks and Recreation in the State of Wisconsin before moving to New York where he was Chief Forester at Finch Pryn. Robert then went to work as a state planner for the State of Massachusetts. After that, he moved to New Hampshire, where he taught Recreation and Parks at the University of New Hampshire. Robert spent 25 years owning and operating the Gateway Family Restaurant in Lee and Somersworth, NH and served on the Board of Directors for New Hampshire’s Restaurant and Lodging Association before retiring to Maine with his loving wife.
    Robert is survived by his wife of 64 years, Madeline Cash Greenleaf, daughter Wendy Dore and her husband, Frank, daughter Sharon MacDonald and her husband, Steven, and son Robert Jr. and his wife, Sandra. He is also survived by his sister, Gail Dubov. He was the beloved grandfather and great-grandfather of Erin, Michael and his wife, Emily, Matthew and his wife, Kiera, Kelley and her fiancée, Ryan, Robbie III and his wife, Autumn, Megan, Brady, Lilly, Kinley, Trevor, Benjamin, and Anna. Robert is loved and remembered by many family members and friends. He was predeceased by his mother, Ruth Nutting Hacker and his father, Henry Greenleaf.
    Robert was an avid sports fan, especially the New York Yankees and New England Patriots. He also loved playing Bridge with his wife and friends. His greatest joy was his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
    A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 17th, 2019 at 12pm at the West Cumberland United Methodist Church, 5 Upper Methodist Road, Cumberland, Maine 04021.
